A Second Life for Glass
First workshopped in 2020 and officially launched in March 2023, Glass Recovery and Sustainable Systems (GRASS) Baltimore LLC is on a mission to stop valuable materials from ending up in the incinerator or landfill.
Recover
We recover bottle and jar glass directly from local restaurants and provide accessible drop-off services for residents across the city.
Refine
Once collected, the glass is meticulously sorted, cleaned, and crushed—preparing it for its transformation.
Upcycle
We transform everyday waste into beautiful, handcrafted art, unique glassware, and stunning jewelry.
Empowering Westport
Sustainability is about people as much as it is about the planet. GRASS is committed to local economic empowerment. Currently, three of GRASS’s core employees are residents of Westport, the South Baltimore community that is home to the city’s trash incinerator. By creating green jobs locally, we fight environmental injustice directly.
